Advocate Shamsul Hoque Tuku is a beacon politician, devoted to the welfare of people and our sweet motherland. He was born in 31th May, 1948 in Brishalikha, Bera, Pabna in a noted Muslim family. His Father's name is Late Juran Uddin Sardar and his mother's name is Late Rahima Khatun.

Basically Advocate Shamsul Hoque Tuku was a sportsman. He was celebrated and awarded several times for swimming. He actively started politics when he was studying in Rajshahi University.

He was elected as General Secretary of Zinnah Hall (Presently Sher-e-Bangla Hall) Student Union. He also played and important role as one of the leading student Leaders of the Rajshahi University Chattra Shangram Parishad. He led the procession of 17 February, 1969 demanding the trial of the murder of Sergeant Johurual Haque and Unconditional release of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with the withdrawal of the Agartala conspiracy case against him.

He Actively Participated in the Liberation War in 1971. Having taken Military training at Deradun in India, he led liberation war in wider free zone of Pabna.

He became the President of Rajshahi University Chattra League during 1972. He was elected as General Secretary of RUCSU in 1973-74 and as the Vice-President of Central Executive Committe of Bangladesh Chattra League in the same year. His younger brother Abdul Khalek received martyrdom during the glorious Liberation War of 1971. After completing his academic career in 1974, Mr. Tuku started his career as a lawyer in Pabna Judge Court. He was elected General Secretary of Pabna District Lawyer Samity. He served the duty of Vice-President of District Awami League from 1996 to 2005 in different terms. He also became the member of Bangladesh Bar-council from 1999-2002. In 2005, he was elected the General Secretary of Pabna District Awami League. Now he is the General Secretary of the National Four Leader Parishad Central Committee and the Presidium Member of Awami Lawyer Parishad Central Committee.
